the innervate label is on a roll and the last release featuring: pedro delgardo, fer br and dj mika did amazingly well! this funky piece of techno was a great release for the label.

roberto bardini is a deep techno producer from turin (ita). he is amongst the few enlightened producer/djs who declared independence from the current minimal-techno mainstream. his musical approach is by all means deep, and through this he casts his vision of a more mature and alternative dancefloor.
well known alongside labels such as shyan music and plastic city, in 2007 starts a collaboration with eclipsemusic and this is his second apparence named >new perspectives ep< features a slow-motion deep house vibes especially >through together< amazing synth texture running on pads pattern in classic robs style deep as the ocean, music with soul and appropriate track for sunset landscapes and beach time dancing, the titletrack >new perspective< is more techno oriented production with dub style chords and raw clipped bass, a new form of dub techno music better for dancefloor situations. rob confirms himself as a innovative deep man walking!

it was only a matter of time. two genre-defining artists together ... pop music and dance musics most famous arbiters of taste, collaborating at last. dj hells >u can dance< is an interpretation of an unreleased bryan ferry song, but its one that reflects a perfect melding of two distinct personalities, a record that sounds as if the voice and music were made for each other.
hell, of course, has been riding high on the success of >teufelswerk<, his masterpiece of a double album, a journey replete with fruitful experiments and club bombs. one that has yielded both massive hits and not a tiny bit of controversy along the way. ferry, meanwhile, has been as busy as ever—recording a new album, performing in places as far afield as siberia, opening up the cannes film festival ... basically just being bryan ferry.
and now here they are together ... it all started in 2006 when hell dropped in to meet ferry at his west london studio. at first they discussed hell remixing an old roxy music track, and then it turned into something else - something new (u can dance).
they had similar impressions of one another — hell: >i was impressed by his aura and his look.<, ferry: >he impressed us with his sophistication and charm.< fast forward a few years later, and hell is hard at work on teufelswerk and putting the finishing touches on the aforementioned song titled >u can dance<, a serpentine moroder-esque disco burner. with the help of old friend peter kruder, of kruder and dorfmeister fame, hell fashioned the song into a smoldering nine-minute highlight of the double disc set, in which ferry turns in a typically assured vocal performance.
ferry may seem like an unexpected fan of dance, but hes been going to clubs since he was a teenager, and in his lengthy career hes worked with legends such as nile rodgers of chic and david williams from michael jacksons band. >its always a pleasure to work with people from that genre, who follow a singular groove.<
the single follows in the wake of hells >the dj feat. p. diddy< which has won over floors and critics alike with its nearly 30-minute radio slave remix and fine work from the likes of deetron, jay haze and others. on >u can dance< hell and ferry have similarly pulled out all the stops for the remixes, gathering up work from the grammy-nominated producer carl craig, dfa mainstay tim goldsworthy and pop electro superstars simian mobile disco.

set to shine in 2010, mizz beats is the 22 year old from hackney (east london) who aided and abetted labelmate silkie in the creation of one of this years certified bangers: purple love. earning her stripes in the midst of the uks grime scene, she has already produced for the likes of dizzee rascal, jammer and lady sovereign and she is undoubtedly one of the anti social entertainment cliques brightest prospects alongside quest, silkie, kromestar, j5, harry craze and heny g.

after a year claudio mate is back on klap klap! and during this year he has worked on his profile, making it stronger and more known around the world. his lush but driving and emotional detroit inspired techno has really been gaining strength within the circuits of those who know. this record will not make his reputation weaker for sure. we believe it will make some heads nodding in the right direction. let the music speak for itself!

another fresh release from nublu. on the a side, in flagranti adds their own signature disco funk sound using a very catchy saxophone hook, making this a killer remix that is sure to light up the dancefloor. on the flip, i:cube delivers a classic deep cosmic techno remix. the 12 inch also includes two original tracks by the trio (whose bass player who also plays with sun ra arkestra) that encompasses jazz, indie and dance all at once, a sound that nublu is known for. the music is taken from the bands latest album release >peace now<.

after the very well received >hunter / grazer< ep by jeroen liebregts, audio assault returns with their first post-summer release. prepare for another contribution by japanese prodigy go hiyama, delivering dirty and industrial beats in the classic hiyama tradition.

strictly ltd repressed, smooth techno tracks from sven weisemann who seems to be one of the hot german talents. after his great releases on mojuba he comes with more blissful detroit techno. 4 tracks that fit perfectly on the cool styrax label. this blends perfectly with ame, omar s or chateau flight!

after the huge success of his track ero on the label karton, david garcet is back with a sound true to him, bilboquet pop sends you directly to the univers of superbe melodies and heavy dissonant layers. once again an enormous track that will not leave a foot on the floor. on the b side we find the exceptional alexander maier who hits hard with a powerfull remix, very intelligently done, which is already a hit on the dancefloor!

its been a while since i:cube hasnt deliver some fresh cuts! was he lost in a software??? hes back (a new album is also scheduled) to his early naive, deep and twisted spirit, but with a super tight modern production... falling is a sleazy funk track, a slow burner, which contains all the elements who made i:cube one of the most respected and innovative producers around since more than a decade!! heavy groove, hypno bassline, references to the early disco-dub music. un dimanche sans fin (neverending sunday) was done (as its name says) a sunday night, one shot, at the versatile studio. cube reconnects with his seminal dub-techno love, a track full of space and emotion. i would describe operation hypnosis as sheffield house. a solid beat and some bleeps will bring the dancer into a mental spiral...

3rd release on steckdose is made by marco remus, who teams up with luc byltiauw aka q-ic for these 2 grooving techno cuts with a little nod towards (tech)house.

this is the first part of staub (engl. dust) - a new series of giegling, which aims to release traditional techno music. dust because its about dusty tracks, if you consider the sound and the time of creation. the music of the first part is from 2003 and is produced by a guy, who disguises himself in the documents as vril. we discovered him in a secret subterranean archiv during the demolition of our hobby celler - the giegling. played and charted (top 7 , april 2010) by marcel dettmann (berlin)

silver sonic are martin dawson and tom neville, who made this electrofied house anthem for azuli black label in 2004.

the waiting is finally over! after all the ups and downs of the past year, we can happily report that joshua eustis now firmly intends to continue telefon tel aviv as a solo project. in order to mark his decision with a bang, thewonderful title track >immolate yourself< is being released as the second single from the current lp. the song has been entrusted to highly acclaimed and diverse remix artists who have skilfully stripped down the epic album track to more club-friendly formats.
the a side is delivered by label-mate thomas muller, whose finely detailed techno soundscapes can now be enjoyed on five bpc 12 inch releases. his >immolate< remix takes a much more direct approach. he reduces the lush arrangement of the original to a powerful basic framework, leaves out the vocals almost entirely, and creates a surprise when the track crumbles into sonic chaos towards the end.
miss fitz aka maayan nidam has had singles released on labels including raum musik and freak n chic, and these have been remixed by renowned artists such as ricardo villalobos. her version of >immolate< also makes a clear break from the album track and serves up her very own brand of abstract, dancefloor-friendly house. once again, all the opulence of the original is thrown overboard, a dry beat is placed at the centre of the arrangement and enriched with sinuous vocals.
ben klock needs no further introduction - he is the epitome of the bleak, hard minimal sound. his album >one< is currently available on ostgut ton, and as a remixer he has earned the highest acclaim for his version of depeche modes >peace<. bens >jack mix< is fittingly titled and lives up to all the expectations of the name. the track is stripped back to a resounding, hammer-like beat framework - minimised for maximum effect.
bpitch legend sascha funke delivers a surprise with another astoundingly reduced remix, at least by his standards. he turns away from the melodic richness of his current album >mango< in favour of repetitive fragments and an extended arc of tension which will surely make his >immolate< remix a massive after-hour hit.

daniel steinberg and front room are like annoyingly sexy couples that you end up in the next hotel room to on a company business trip. except of course daniel steinberg and front room dont actually have sex they just literally make sweet music together. the spiciness continues with the preacherman ep, daniel steinbergs fifth release on front room recordings. punctuated with the exotic and the kind of twists, bumps and energy that only steinberg can provide, preacherman kicks off a cacophony of funk fuelled head nodding to get any party pulsating. “you need love” with its in-your-face vocal, huge beat and sleazy decelerating breakdown has future classic written all over it. the long awaited tiefschwarz remix of “lucky sauce” also sees the light of day here in full effect and breathes a new layer of ‘wow’over a release that is only really just beginning to simmer down from its release in june. wonked out groover who stopped the music rounds proceedings off nicely on an ep that is audio proof that the stroke of his talent only gets more precise and dazzling with every release. daniel steinbergs releases are supported by the likes of ricardo villalobos, luciano, claude vonstroke and richie hawtin to name drop a few. watch this space for daniel steinbergs artist album coming out on front room in 2010

circus company welcomes a new artist on the label: the homewreckers. named after a track by southern soul legend sam dees, the production collective from germany has been moving and breaking new ground between detroit techno, abstract funk and melancholic disco music since 1995. their debut album amercian ruhr has been released on unique records in 2008 and creates an absolutely distinctive sound which seems to come straight out of a from a feverish dream populated by the ghostlike figures of larry graham, juan atkins, frank hutter, bernard edwards, erik b or al green. the not my business ep perfectly shows how the homewreckers flow on these two original tracks. you feel the funk, you feel detroit and you feel a deep and unique sense of music. cherry on the cake, you got a remix from san francisco based artist dave aju who is back on the label after his much acclaimed album open wide released in 2008. not my business isnt their first shoot on the label as they were already part of last months snuggle & slap circus company compilation with a brilliant live-version of chicago urban blues.

the remixes come from prominent producers around europe, so starting chronological from a2 to b2: sian has appeared on a lot on raves and parties with his surf board. he is an international traveller who loves to be reminded of the times when surfing farmers left their houses with door frames and no doors. his remix works in a way a countdown functions. building up tension at an incredible speed, this track is set out to explode... but sian would not be sian if he had not developed a club friendly torture . sian rides the wave of superfatt basslines and adds a sequence that sounds as if someone had replaced his teeth with thin pieces of metal, creating a humming voice comparable to one of a jaws harp. sian keeps the tension going with very few elements and shows he is a true masterof techno.
secret cinema has been accompanying us since his first releases mid of the 90ies and we truly believe quality prevails, not to mention his mayor chart hit just 3 months ago with “shake ur tech-ass”. well secret cinema is unbelievably massive in his production. we dont see how anyone can fatten up the sound more than he can. but it is not only about tuning and pimping and pimping and tuning... his remix is a masters piece of perfectionbecause it creates something rare... deep emotional hydraulic strength. this is like diving head on into a pool of silicone and getting sucked into it. this track has an hypnotic feel to it that is comparable to radiohead.
darko esser is an icon in the techno scene of the netherlands. his remix takes the track in to a direction you would not expect it could go to. starting rather minimal darkos remix soon takes a turn and brings in jack elements and cool nostalgic melodies that will warm the heart of every detroit techno lover. was it derrick may who played chords like this... these strings are looked up in the back of our heads like childhood memories of having your first popcycle exploding in your mouth. this is soulful music with just enough analogue imperfection and warmth to it.

polargeist. 2 guys from germany. thats all i know about them. this is their first release. its got two dark building tech chuggers with some chords, and a fruity lil breakdown in one of them. tensnake reworks >home from the can< into a moody summer persussive house number and banggang get all aussie-french house on the original. with that we have this 4 track release. enough said. who even reads these blurbs anyway?

hello and welcome to the new decade. we are kicking off the 10s with a smash from the 00s - as a hinge between the decades, so to say. adas >lovestoned< was everybodys favourite track from her fabulous >adaptations< album, a milestone of romatic techno with vocal support by raz o hara. one of this songs biggest admirers is president bongo of gusgus fame. together with jack shidt he forms the dynamic duo gluteus maximus which already caused a stir with their amazing remix for sigur ros >gobbledigook< on kompakt pop. their lovestoned remix is astounding, too. sex, modern, efficient without losing one gramm of soul. the flipside is taken care of gui boratto who is never far away when techno meets pop in such a sensitive way. his remix makes all great things from the original a bit greater and its pushing the romance factor to the max.

things are really moving at dumb-unit, the new year is about to hit and we are ready to bring on another superb artist to the roster. this time in the form of ahmet sisman, the turkish / german sensation who is already makinginternational waves with his strong batch of recent releases. flagged by sven väth and mathias kaden as one to watch in 2010 ahmet has been on the radar of jeremy p caulfield for sometime. his slash, lessizmore and stock 5 eps were in high rotation through the summer and were a perfect fit to jeremys high energy sets. with a dense impact of heady efx and speaker rattling low-end ahmet is the perfect match for dumb-unit as the label bumps and thumps deep into the unwritten future ... stay tuned …

tiger supported by... rob da bank, kiko, markus kavka, mihalis safras, justin berkovi, ivan smagghe, orde meikle... moonbeam are back on traum! the russian brothers had a great year and have been voted as one of the top 100 djs worldwide by uk dj mag, in december 2009. we think they are wonderful, dedicated people who really deserve winning this award. with their new a-side track >tiger< moonbeam show their timeless quality and their deep knowledge of music, writing a seemingly simple but gigantic track. if you want to express in words what this track is like you might say it is a hybrid of joe beltrams >energy flash< fuelled with a melodic note and a lot of post-techno feeling. creating a revival of rave which so many people speak about, but so few actually reflect in theirproductions! the energy of this dark monumental new school acid track is counteracted by the two tracks on the flipside >land of the lost (strict mix)< and >zoo<. the b1-track >land of the lost< sounds like a soundtrack for a film set in a ghost-town in the midwest of the united states. a track that travels like a camera does... through different rooms of a deserted mansion. the b2-track >zoo< is the beat track of the record. it relies on its cool driving sequences and the hypnotic feeling it creates through them. adding small changes here and there that keep the track constantly going.

dollar mambo is a fantasizing. his name is taken from the title of paul leducs film. a movie realized in panama where you find no dialogues but only music and dance to narrate the story. like in the seven dollar album, all tracks have an authentic south colour and are built, not like a film but in a way where everyone can easily imagine a sketch. all tunes are about dancing, intensity, surprising and finally a great tribute to musicians. youll find a lot of sampled instruments from massive percussion, trombone, trumpet, voice (soleil) to guitar, gitarone (gringo) and marimba (wonderful)... like a dream this album is born for those who are searching for something different, illuminating and deeply happy

on the a side we have oddity with a massive remix from mark broom. his remix of oddity is a no nonsense stripped back techno affair with a ripping synth line, the track teases you with a number off small drops before the massive atmospheric breakdown which would bring carnage on any dance floor.
on the b side we have the orb theory with a remix from edit select who seems to be able to to no wrong with his string of releases on his self named label edit select records. his remix explores the realms of atmospherical techno and has a straight up tribal feel about it, this track has been creating quite a fuss at berlins berghain during the early hours. the track has a percussive drive with rolling snares and a beautiful synth line that rises and fades throughout the track.
